An Interview with Jessica Gordon

(October 2011)

Tell me what you do as a member of the Culinary Innovations Team. I manage our archive of recipes and photos – most that show up on our consumer, retail and foodservice websites. I’m responsible for the editing of the recipes as well as a portion of the recipe development. I also work with our marketing team to select recipes for Beef So Simple and other marketing materials.

How long have you worked in the culinary department? Almost 5 years

Have you always been a beef-lover? Yes, but as a member of the CIT I’ve learned so many great ways to cook beef and like it even more.

What was your first truly great beef meal experience? I’ve always loved a grilled steak, sliced and served in tacos during the summer.

At home, what is your favorite way to prepare beef? Braising or grilling

Do you use rubs and/or marinades? Yes

What rubs/marinades do you like to use? I really like the marinade used in the recipe Grilled Southwest Steaks with Sunset Salad and Garlic-Thyme Steak Rub. Both are on the Beef Its What's for Dinner website.

When was the last time you ate beef? Tonight for dinner

What did you have? Southwestern Pulled Brisket made in the slow cooker
